Agata Lankamer
b. 1994 in Poland. I live and work in Bergen, Norway. I am visual artist working with new media, painting and sculpture, recently experimenting with sugar as sculptural material. My artistic practice explores the intersections of materiality, technology, and power structures, with a particular focus on cyberviolence. I investigate how digital culture blurs ethical boundaries, and normalizes aggression. My practice often delves into sci-fi, feminism, future anthropology, manifestations of inequality, and the romanticization of violence in culture. I often create projects that involve various media and technologies or engage different senses, like touch or smell.
The use of sugar is an important aspect of my current artistic practice. I’ve been experimenting with this material because I see similarities between it and new technologies. Sugar historically tied to slavery and colonialism as a luxury product and as a source of energy, and nowadays linked to contemporary consumerism, shares striking similarities with new technologies: it fuels addiction, triggers dopamine-driven pleasure, and masks its toxicity behind desirability.
In the past, I co-founded the independent gallery JEST in Wrocław, Poland. Since 2021 I have been collaborating in the artistic duo Women–Antennas with Agata Konarska.
Women–Antennas (Kobiety–Anteny) is an artistic duo formed by Agata Lankamer (b. 1994) and Agata Konarska (b. 1995). Their collaborative practice brings together interests in posthumanism, new technologies, science fiction, and esotericism. Working primarily within digital art, they create video installations, immersive environments, and game-based experiences that frequently incorporate elements of performance and narrative. Both artists graduated from the Media Art Department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 2023.
