The desire for brutality and dealing with aggression in mass culture is not only an occasion to relieve tension for a while. It also means the way in which contemporary cultural identity functions, in which ethical boundaries are blurred. Its pleasant presence influences the unconscious tolerance of violence in reality and dulls the feeling of empathy, and its transparent character influences the escalation of violence in the social and political discourse. Fiction and its abstract dimension become one of the reasons for society’s consent to the aggression of the authorities and the politics of hostility.

Chęć brutalności i radzenie sobie z agresją w masowej kulturze to nie tylko okazja do chwilowego ulżenia napięciu. Oznacza to również sposób, w jaki funkcjonuje współczesna tożsamość kulturowa, w której zatarte są granice etyczne. Jej przyjemna obecność wpływa na nieświadomą tolerancję przemocy w rzeczywistości i przytępia poczucie empatii, a jej transparentny charakter wpływa na eskalację przemocy w dyskursie społecznym i politycznym. Fikcja i jej abstrakcyjny wymiar stają się jednym z powodów zgody społeczeństwa na agresję władzy i politykę wrogości.
